Wei-Lin Chen (陳煒林)

I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the New Zealand Policy Research Institute (NZPRI) at Auckland University of Technology.

I am on the job market for the 2025/26 academic year. 

My job market paper studies how the party affiliation of elected sheriffs affects traffic stop enforcement in North Carolina.

My primary research interests are in public economics, development economics, and political economy. I study how people (leaders), technology (algorithms), and capital (fiscal capacity) shape government service provision and influence local infrastructure and economic development in both developed and developing economies.

I completed a Ph.D. in economics at the University of California, San Diego in September 2023.
